One wouldn’t think that it would be so difficult to find music that you like, and if your likes consist of what you hear on the radio, it probably isn’t. Still, what about the rest of us? What about those people whose favorite bands won’t be appearing on TRL anytime soon? Such is the joy of the independent music store. Even more fun are the online versions of these hole-in-the-wall record shops that somehow always manage to have albums that you’ve been looking for ages. Insound is one of these online retailers. They have loads of less mainstream music and other entertainment media products. The site itself is hipper than hip, with a fantastic look, great pictures, reams of information, and a little bit of attitude. It is a genuine pleasure to navigate the site, and it will take a hard heart and soft brain not to giggle at least once. Now, of course, the raison d’etre of this site is to sell merchandise. This is common sense. However, it seems much less a priority here than many other sites. Insound has their collective tongue planted firmly in cheek, and that makes this site a blast to shop. Stuff like photo galleries and staff picks gives a real insight into the Insound philosophy, and they’re great fun to look at besides. The fact is, no review could do this site any real justice. The goal here is to whet your appetite, pique your curiosity, and get you there to see for yourself. Do it. Go. You’ll be really glad that you did. |
